Chequed out

Space-archaeologists and historians of the future may be excited by the following. Everyone else can just talk amongst themselves.

This week, two of my employers have been in touch asking for my bank details. They're entirely unrelated to one another, but both organisations now no longer pay their leagues of extraordinary freelancers by such last century-ness as cheques.

I wonder if this is one of those sea changes in the way we live our lives that we don't really notice at the time. Like stopping changing nappies.

What a coincidence, I just the same thing this very same week.
A very nice gentleman from Nigeria sent me a very nice letter by email asking for my Bank details too. I was a bit unsure to begin with, but he is a Doctor, so he must be perfectly respectable.
The poor man had been through an awful lot over the past year and just needs my help to transfer some money out of the country.
Amazingly he will also pay me once he can. I am not telling anyone else though, they will all want a piece of the action.
Who says there is no such thing as a free lunch ?

I wonder why we started spelling it "check"?
